In Coastal VA, there is always something happening! In fact, the biggest problem might be deciding which one to do! I’ve compiled a few suggestions below!

USO Experience- from sunrise yoga to paddle boarding to free concerts, this USO event is designed to bring military and civilians together for one fun-filled weekend. Please visit their website (google USO Experience VB to find the site) for event sign ups ad information on the free concerts.

Cornhole Tourney- Chicho’s on 29th St (VB Oceanfront) is hosting a Cornhole competition with a cash prize of $500. Event starts Sunday at 3 and you must bring your own bags. Even if you aren’t playing, Chicho’s is a fun hangout (they sell pizza and beer, hard to go wrong there!) and Cornhole is a blast to watch. And while it looks simple, there definitely is a skill to it! Never heard of Cornhole before? Well, it’s basically two wood board set ups that have a large hole towards the top. The goal is to throw bags of corn (they are about the size of a hand) and make it into the hole. Sounds easy but I promise, its not! It IS however a lot of fun.

Blackbeard Festival- I could do a whole blog about Blackbeard and our region but I will save that for another time! All weekend reenactments are taking place at this private themed festival. A great events for kids and history buffs alike!

Free Fishing at Mount Trashmore- Bring the kids to the park from 9-12 Saturday and let them explore the joys of fishing! Volunteers will be on hand with fishing supplies to introduce young anglers to the sport, free of charge!

Mark Dunn at Old Beach Tavern- this Country Music Award nominee has played this venue before and we always try to be there for it! Mark has played with many famous musicians & its great when he performs locally. If you go, look for me in the crowd!
