Great Bridge Area of Chesapeake Homes

In 1775 on December 9, the Battle of Great Bridge was fought during the American Revolutionary War. The Americans won the battle and Lord Dunmore and the British government left Norfolk. Fast forward to today, and Great Bridge is a wonderful and sought after section of Chesapeake. Great Bridge High School is very well known for their wrestling and several professional baseball players such as BJ Upton, Justin Upton and Michael Duccyer once called the area home. Carlton Powell from the Cleveland Browns (and the Denver Broncos and VA Tech) is also from Great Bridge. With so much history and so much opportunity, it’s no wonder this section of Chesapeake is in fairly high demand. Located close to the border of North Carolina, escaping to the outer banks for some surfing or just relaxing is easy.
