East Beach Homes-Norfolk

Compared to some of the older neighborhoods of Coastal Virginia, the East Beach is rather young. Located about 10 minutes from ORF (Norfolks airport) and 20 minutes from Downtown, this beautiful community over looks the Chesapeake Bay. Stroll down the beach or explore deep water by boat, as East Beach is a beach lovers dream come true. The homes are built in the style of traditional Atlantic coastal villages, with streets and sidewalks that are in harmony with the trees, creating a classic and calming feel that makes everyday feel like a vacation day. Nearby is downtown Norfolk that features many upscale restaurants & hosts festivals year round. There is also the Norfolk Zoo, the botanical gardens and The Hermitage for those looking for attractions slightly different then traditional beach town activities. 10 minutes in the other direction takes you to Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Backstory: The 100 acres that is East Beach was once a less then desirable section of Norfolk. Luckily, it got a major design by Urbanists Duane Plater-Zyberk and The New Urbanist. Their vision was to create a sense of community by weaving natural features alongside 700 residences, neighborhood restaurants, boutiques, offices and more. The mature canopies of live oaks were retained and are situated around public parks for all to enjoy. All the homes were created by a select group of builders in the East Beach Guild and in accordance to the original design.
